Techniques

Dr. Short is a certified Kennedy Decompression Technique practitioner and is certified in Cox Flexion Distraction technique. This combination of training and specialized equipment allows him to effectively treat and manage bulging or ruptured disc in the cervical spine (neck) or lumbar spine (low back) as well as degenerative disc and spinal stenosis. Dr. Short is able to treat many conditions that many other chiropractors aren’t equipped to handle. He routinely receives referrals from the medical community.

Dr. Short is also “Full Body Certified” in Active Release Technique (ART), which is utilized to treat soft tissue including muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. Just about any painful or limiting condition in these tissues can be effectively treated. Stubborn conditions such as plantar fasciitis or tendonitis in the shoulder, elbow, hips and legs responds well to this treatment. These tissues can bring pressure to bear on nerves and to play a role in conditions like carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome. Treatment utilizing ART will often resolve these without surgery.

Dr. Short also uses ART on the “soft tissues” surrounding the spine to make spinal manipulation easier and to help the adjustment hold better. This is especially helpful in the upper neck to resolve chronic headaches.
